You can make a simple valance for your window by measuring the width of your window, measuring the length of the valance and laying the fabric on a flat surface and measuring the width of the valance on the fabric. You can choose to have a straight one or gathered type. If you need a gathered type then you need an extra measurement allowance for the gathers and hems. Measure the depth of the valance on the fabric which should be doubled. Stitch the hem and use tape to seal them. Turn the fabric right side out and then slide it on the rod and hung. You can decide to puff it with tissue paper.
