How to Stop a Running Toilet
A running toilet is bad news due to the odor that is emitted from the overflow. The first step that one should take in stopping a running toilet is establishing where there is a blockage. This will require you to open the sewer points around the house and check which one is dry. The dry one shows that there is no effluent passing at that point. It is wise to always start with the sewer point that is closest to the toilet.
After establishing where the blockage is, there are two ways of stopping a running toilet. One is by inserting a long wire through the toilet and running it back and forth until the waste drains. The other way is done from the sewer point where a long wire is inserted into the drainage towards the direction of the toilet. Inserting a long wire unclogs anything that could have blocked the drainage.
