Silk clothing is one of the most elegant clothing which makes you look pretty and graceful. However this fabric needs a lot of care and attention. In fact if proper care is not taken then your silk clothes will lose their shape. First of all make sure that you read the labels properly for washing instructions as there are different variations of silk like China silk or Indian silk and the like which need different washing procedures. Some articles of clothing are particularly sensitive to the harsh washing action of a machine, for example, silk stockings are likely to shrink considerably or have a ladder ripped into their fine fabric. Silk feels smooth and soft on the skin and is a pleasure to wear but it is not so easy to wash. There are lots of tips to ensure your silk clothing gets the best of care and that you can wear it for a long time. Generally you can soak your clothes into mildly warm water with vinegar for around 15 to 20 minutes. If there is a stain carefully spot-clean. During spot-cleaning, ensure your hands are moving outwards in rather than inwards out. After you are done, wash out the soap.

Never wash materials like crepe, satin silk or taffeta. Always dry clean them. Once you are done with washing never rinse them to dry. To dry silk clothes use the technique of soak drying. Soak drying is putting your wet clothes between two dry towels. Give your silk all the pampering it needs!
