Making drawing rooms look wider
The drawing room is a window to the total outlook of a house. You should spare no effort in making it look wider and spacious. There are ways to do it.
Place large furniture like sofa and cabinets right on the wall. This will ensure good space for walking. It is an illusion that if you have more walking space, the room looks bigger. Double up your coffee table as console and this will keep vital things contained in small spaces. Keep your aquarium lighted. Placement of aquarium gives a reflection and makes the room look wider.
You may also try light and bright texture paintings. Making surreal paintings may widen the outlook, and in effect the room. Don’t let it get stuffed with meaningless substance. Arrange a wall-to-wall light colored carpet. You may also make your drawing room by your bay window. Keep the ceiling fan slightly high as that will make one feel that the room is high.
