Painting over your existing wallpaper is not as difficult as removing the old wall paper. All you need to do is follow these tips and give your old wallpaper a new smart look:
Firstly, look out for damaged areas on your old wallpaper. Then fix those parts with adhesive to get a cleaner look.
Get rid of the section where you find maximum damage. As there seems to be no other way.
Now prepare some joint mix and put on the seams of the wallpaper to stop it from peeling. This way the older paper will also be quickly fixed.
In case, you have textured wallpaper, you have to apply the compound all over it. Then scrape it down with sandpaper after it dries, to get a clean finish.
Get good quality house paints to color your walls but do it cautiously.
While painting, make sure that you do not apply paint directly on dark colored wallpaper. First apply a sealer in this case.
